ASK HANK: Why does ACCESS put their money at risk to help get buildings ADA compliant?

buildings ADA compliantWhen people with disabilities contact ACCESS, they are asking for help. We at ACCESS have been getting buildings ADA compliant for the last 22 years. The types of building we see most are:

  1. Hotels and Motels
  2. Timeshares
  3. Large Shopping Centers
  4. Hospitals and Medical Centers
  5. Banks
  6. Restaurants
  7. Parks and Recreation Areas
  8. Schools and Universities
  9. Theaters and Performing Art Centers
  10. Airport Terminals
  11. Convention Centers
  12. City and State Buildings

We feel strongly that we can make lives better for people with disabilities and their loved ones by using our extensive architectural ADA knowledge and experience.

The process is simple: first, we will ask you to sign our one page “engagement letter” so we can represent you–all at no cost to you (the person with a disability). We will then put our money at risk as we implement the ACCESS Program which makes use of the federal court system and, more specifically, a federal judge as he/she is the only person that can rule on ADA violations as they fall under the umbrella of federal Civil Rights Law.

We do expect the federal court system to reimburse ACCESS for our costs as part of the legal proceedings; however, there is no guarantee.

The ACCESS business models is prepared for tremendous growth to further help people with disabilities by writing over 100 complaints in 2016, another 1,000 in 2017 and another 5,000 by 2018! The feeling is always so great for us, knowing that we have helped make life a little better for people with disabilities by putting our knowledge and expertise together in getting another building ADA compliant!
