We Are Your Access Advocates!

Who are we?

We are Access Advocates: a group of caring professionals, from different fields, dedicated to helping our fellow Americans who live with disabilities have full and complete access to all public buildings, in compliance with the spirit and the letter of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

How can we help you?

If you (or a family member or friend) live with a disability and run into a barrier which limits your access to a public building, we will work with the building owner to bring the building into compliance with the ADA. These barriers might include missing or unsafe ramps and rails, aisles too narrow to accommodate wheelchairs, bathrooms too small for easy access, lack of Braille instructions where appropriate or any of the many other areas covered by the ADA.

What is the process?

If you have run into a barrier limiting our access to a public building, contact us. We will take the time to get to know you and find out the details of this barrier. Once we have a good picture of what is going on, we will conduct an audit of the building in question and share that information with the building owner and with an architect. We will then recommend solutions to the building owner. We will review the architect’s plan for updating the building and, after approval, forward those to a contractor specializing in ADA work. After the cost of the job is determined, this is all forwarded to a federal judge, who must give final approval. After all of the work is completed, we here at Access Advocates will perform a final audit to confirm compliance.

All of this is done at no cost to you! It’s a win-win-win solution. You have access to the building, business owners can now welcome more customers and your fellow citizens with disabilities will gain access, too.

If you’ve run into a barrier, give us a call.
