We are dedicated to helping Americans with disabilities by supporting and enforcing the regulations of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). This work is accomplished by providing information, professional counsel, and a step-by-step guide to accomplish compliance for any public building or structure. When compliance failures are found, it can be difficult to know what steps are necessary to begin with in order to obtain accessible accommodations. We at Access Advocates have the experience, the knowledge, and the committment to ensure all ADA building regulations are met and fulfilled.

The Americans with Disabilities Act

The Americans with Disabilities Act was signed into law by George H. W. Bush, the 41st President of the United States. This law was designed to help eliminate discrimination when concerning Americans with disabilities. The kinds of discrimination that were noticed included:

  • Forcing Americans to live in specific housing in order to receive benefits;
  • Leaving Americans without specific saftety devices like auditory and visual crossing signals;
  • Americans being fired from a job or not being hired only because of a disability;
  • Keeping Americans from using public services like sidewalks, public transportation, and public buildings because of the lack of ramps, lifts, and elevators for open access.

Because of these discriminatory conditions, the ADA was signed into law requiring that public buildings and businesses provide for certain accomodations to help Americans with disabilities enjoy every one of their rights.

The Americans with Disabilities Act was signed into law to eliminate discrimation. Many Americans were discriminated because of their own disabilities. The ADA made specific requirements that public buildings and businesses must adhere to for complete compliance.
